Web Site Promotion 7 Ways to Get More Web Traffic

Youve spend hours and hours and lots of money to get your web site just perfect. The next step is to make sure you spend sufficient energy in your web site promotion. How are you going to get visitors to look at your website?

Any thorough promotional plan for your web site should include ways to draw attention to your site. Seven of the most effective ways are:

1. Take out some web site advertising. Make ads to be placed on appropriate third-party sites that will link to your site.

2. Reciprocal links. Make sure your site has a large partnership section and then partner with other sites to cross-link to one another. This can also improve your search engine ratings.

3. Get visitors to come back. Capturing email addresses of visitors and then following up with email promotions that drive visitors back to your site can be very effective.

4. Submit to Search Engines. Make sure your site has been submitted to appropriate general, country-specific, and industry-specific search engines. This is particularly important if you have changed you content significantly.

5. Use email signatures. Add you website to every piece of email you send out. Its not a bad idea to also include it on all invoices, stationery, business cards and other marketing collateral.

6. Use PPC search engine advertising. Include pay-per-click advertising in your web site promotion efforts. Start with Google and Yahoo!

7. Paper-based advertising. Dont forget the old fashioned paper-based advertising. Drive visitors to your site via direct mail, newspaper ads, yellow page ads, postcards or other print ads.

The key issue to effective web site marketing promotion is not to do just one of these things but to do several (or all!) of them.
