Ohio Marriage License Requirements

You just love the state of Ohio and you have always dreamed of getting married there. The thing is do you know how to apply and obtain a marriage license. Well Below I have outlined the latest laws and regulations for applying and obtaining a marriage license in the state of Ohio.

You must bring with your any government issued picture identification. Such as pass port, visa, drivers license, military ID, state ID and so on. You should also have handy your birth certificate and social security card.

You do not have to reside in the state of Ohio to apply and obtain a marriage license. Although, you will need to apply in the county that you reside in.

The couple have to apply for the marriage license together.

If you are divorced or widowed you will need a copy of your divorce decree or death certificate.

The fees for the marriage license are $40.00 in most counties a little more in others. Most counties only accept cash some take money orders.

Their are no waiting periods for obtaining your marriage license.

Their are no blood tests required.

If you are between the ages of 18-21 you will need to bring your birth certificate when applying for marriage license.

If you between the ages of 16-17 you will need to have notarized consent from parents or legal guardians. You may also need the consent of a judge.

Ordained or licensed ministers may perform marriages.

Any common law marriage entered in the state of Ohio before October 10, 1991 is valid after that the marriage is not valid.

Their are no cousin marriages.

The marriage license is valid for 60 days and must be used in the state of Ohio only.
